As an award-winning portrait photographer, with eight of his works gracing the walls of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, no two days are the same for George.
George’s obsession for light, shape and form is reflected throughout his works, particularly in his artistic pieces where he often experiments with new techniques.
George has received many accolades over the course of his career. Some highlights include: an invitation as a guest judge for the 2017 Photographic Portrait Prize for the NPG; and being selected by The Royal Australian Mint to produce a collectable coin embossed with his portrait of Professor Fred Hollows. In addition, George has been a finalist in almost every prominent photography prize in Australia, winning several along the way.
More About George – the Back Story
George’s love affair with photography began at the age of seven, after picking up a Kodak brownie camera. A subscription to National Geographic not long after sealed his fate. George says his Mum has a lot to answer for – if not for that subscription, he may have ended up with a real job!
Art college was followed by full-time jobs on some of Australia’s finest publications including the Sydney Morning Herald and ACP/Bauer magazines. Trips to Afghanistan, Laos and Burma, before they became mainstream, provided plenty of inspiration, and plenty of celebrity portraits along the way helped shape George’s photographic career.
Twice voted Australian Travel Photographer of the Year by Captured Magazines, travel photography has remained an enduring passion for George, providing the artistic scope for many of the stunning images on this site.
When he’s not viewing the world through a lens, George enjoys letting off steam in the pool, discovering the latest local food destination and spending time with his wife, two young children and three cats. George is proud to call Sydney, Australia home.
George is delighted to be able to share some of his photographic highlights through the range of art works offered on this brand new site. We’d love to hear from you. If there is any subject matter that you’d like to see included, please reach out via our enquiries page and we’ll be in touch – Enjoy!
